Russian special forces have launched a pre-offensive on the Island of Suursaari. The initial contact has already taken place and the Finnish garrisson was pushed back after suffering casualties due to the surprising nature of the attack. The remaining Finnish soldiers have been allocated to the defense vital strategic assets: the AA batttery in the north which prevents any air attack on the island and the radio node in the south that has been transmitting an alert to all NATO assets in the area.
Time is of the essence in this fight: the Russian soldiers don't have much time before reinforcements arrive in the area and challenge their offensive. They currently have the upper hand, but sustaining an all out attack from reinforcements while trying to clear the island of the remaining Fins will probably result in catastrophic defeat.
Men on the island have to improvise their means of transportation: civilians have left the island due to the campaign of remilitarization by the Finnish authorities and most sold their vehicles to the Army for the local soldiers in addition to regular army vehicles. Little did they know they would serve soldiers indeed, but of another country.
The Russian soldiers on the island are not alone in this fight: the biggest part of the Russian forces were waiting for the green light which was given after the end of phase 1. They are currently on their way, by air and sea, and are determined to support the forward elements.
This fight can go either way but one thing is for sure: the island is too small to host both Russians and Finnish soldiers. Which one will be forced out of the scene is up to you.
